Support

Answers to the questions we get asked most — and a real person on the other end of the email when yours isn't here.

Email us

Write to us about anything: a bug, a grade that looks wrong, billing, safety, or your account. We read every message.

hello@clashclass.com

We usually reply within two business days.

It helps to include your username, whether you're on the app or the website, and — for anything about a session — roughly when it happened.

Frequently asked questions

Account and sign-in

My verification email never arrived.

Check your spam folder first — it comes from hello@clashclass.com. If it isn't there, open ClashClass and press Resend in the banner at the top of the screen; links are single-use, so an older one stops working as soon as a newer one is sent. You can browse arenas and prompts without verifying, but starting a match or submitting writing for a grade needs a confirmed address.

I forgot my password, or I signed up with Google or Apple.

Use "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen and we'll email you a reset link. If you created the account with Google or Apple there is no ClashClass password to reset — sign in with the same provider you used the first time. Signing in with Apple and choosing Hide My Email creates the account under a private relay address, so search your inbox for that rather than your usual address.

Can I use one account on the app and the website?

Yes. Your ratings, streak, gems and history are the same account everywhere — the iPhone and iPad app, Android, and the website. Sign in the same way on each.

Grades and ratings

How is my writing graded?

Each arena has its own rubric and its own scale — ACT Writing runs 2 to 12, the SAT essay 2 to 24, TOEFL iBT reports bands 1 to 6 — and your writing is judged against that arena's rubric, then returned with a breakdown of where the marks came from. Because the scales differ, the same number in two arenas does not mean the same thing.

Why do I have more than one rating in the same arena?

For the same reason a chess player holds separate blitz, rapid and daily ratings. Every arena splits into three speed pools: Blitz for rounds of a minute or less, Daily for correspondence rounds that give you 24 hours to reply, and Rapid for everything in between. They are different games, so they are rated separately and never averaged together.

I finished a session and my rating didn't move.

Practice runs without a per-round clock, so it belongs to no speed pool and there is no standing for it to change. It still counts for everything else — XP, gems, your streak and your daily quota — and the feedback is exactly the same.

I think a session was graded wrongly.

Open it from your history and file a petition. It gets reviewed, and if it is upheld the rating change from that session is reversed. Petitions are for a grade you can argue with rather than a result you didn't enjoy.

Streaks, XP and leagues

I lost my streak and it wasn't my fault.

Email us with your username and the days you missed. If something on our side kept you from practising we can put the streak back — that is exactly what a streak restore is for. A streak that was simply missed stays missed.

What do streak freezes do?

A freeze covers a day you didn't practise so the run survives it. There is nothing to activate: they are spent automatically on your next session, and the days they covered show as frozen on your streak calendar.

How is XP worked out?

Three things multiplied together: how hard the prompt was, how well you scored on it, and how much of the match you actually wrote. A hard prompt played badly still pays more than an easy one aced, and someone who wrote one round out of five isn't paid as though they wrote all five. Weekly league standings are built from that XP.

ClashClass Plus and billing

How do I change or cancel ClashClass Plus?

It depends where you subscribed. On the website: Settings, then Membership, then Manage Subscription. On iPhone or iPad: the Settings app, your name, then Subscriptions. On Android: the Play Store, your profile, then Payments and subscriptions. Cancelling stops the renewal — Plus stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.

I paid, but Plus hasn't appeared.

Check that you're signed in to the same ClashClass account you bought it on, then restore purchases from the membership screen. If it still hasn't landed after a few minutes, email us with the receipt from Apple, Google or Stripe and we'll put it right.

Can I get a refund?

Purchases made inside the iPhone or Android app are billed by Apple and Google, so refunds go through them: reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store, or your order history in the Play Store. If you subscribed on the website, email us and we'll handle it directly.

What happens if I don't subscribe?

You keep everything you have earned. The free plan caps how many graded sessions you can take in a day and keeps a few extras — the detailed accuracy breakdowns and some prompts — for Plus. Your rating history, your streak, your matches and every score you have ever received stay yours, and stay free.

Your data and your account

How do I get a copy of my data?

Settings, then Privacy & Legal, then Export My Data. It downloads your profile and practice history as a JSON file.

How do I delete my account?

On the website: Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. In the app it is at the bottom of your profile screen. Deletion is permanent and takes your submissions, ratings and history with it. If you subscribed through Apple or Google, cancel that subscription separately — deleting the account does not stop store billing.

How do I stop the emails?

Settings, then Notifications, or the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any product email. Account security email — password resets and address confirmations — is always sent, because you need it to get back into your account.

Reporting and safety

A match puts you in front of writing by another person, so every message in one can be reported: press and hold it and choose Report. Blocking is offered in the same place and takes effect immediately — a blocked player can no longer be matched with you or reach you. Reports go to a human, and we act on them within 24 hours.

If you can't reach the report option, or you believe someone is at risk, email us and we'll act on it the same way. hello@clashclass.com
